Graduate Fashion Week seeks the next McQueen

British fashion’s newest and most exciting designers will showcase their talent at Graduate Fashion Week from this Sunday.More than a thousand students from 48 universities across Britain will compete for the thumbs-up from Victoria Beckham, the US Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey and Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz to win the coveted River Island Gold Award and its £20,000 prize to launch a career.The event in Battersea Park, which runs until Wednesday, will play host to the world’s fashion buyers and press all hoping to spot the next Giles Deacon or Alexander McQueen.But here’s an exclusive look at a handful of the strongest contenders likely to become next year’s household names.
